FileSeek 1.9.2 Released!

Mon, Jan 25, 2010

Comments Off

FileSeekI am very happy to announce the release of FileSeek 1.9.2! This release fixes a few long-standing issues, and adds some expanded search options. You can now treat your search query as a complete string (like all previous versions) or you can treat the query as words and find files that match any or all words. This new ability adds some much needed flexibility when searching files for multiple text strings. Another new addition is the “Search” tab in the Settings window. This adds a handful of new settings for configuring what will appear in the search results. For example, you can have filename matches appear that match the text query or the “include files” filter, or both. Previously, both matches were shown for filenames with no way to configure this. Here are a few more changes in this release:

  • Added “Search Modes” to allow searches to be treated as [AND] or [OR] with space separated words
  • Added a “Show Filename matches” and “Show folder name matches” to the Settings window
  • Added a “View Settings for Popular Applications” in the Settings window to help people use the “Other Application” setting

You can see the complete history of changes in the FileSeek Change Log. Thank you to everyone who submitted bug reports and helped to test this new release. Thanks everyone!

ClipboardFusionClipboardFusion 1.5 has been released! After 2 long years since the last version was released, I felt that a new version was a bit overdue. This version adds a ton of new functionality and fixes a bunch of long-standing issues. Along with the new features and bug fixes, ClipboardFusion has received a face-lift and now shares common icons with my other applications (DisplayFusion, FileSeek… etc) for a consistent look-and-feel. Here are some of the new features that have been introduced in version 1.5:

  • Added an option to ignore empty HTML tags (“<>“) when scrubbing HTML tags
  • Added an option to play a sound when scrubbing (comes with a default sound, but can be set to any .wav file)
  • Added an option to replace matching text strings with other strings (ex: can replace the special quotes from MS Office with normal ASCII quotes)
  • Added an optional HotKey to scrub the clipboard
  • Added an optional HotKey to toggle automatic scrubbing on/off
  • Added the ability to not scrub text put on the clipboard by certain applications (specify the programs on the “Ignore Programs” tab)

DisplayFusion Advanced Settings

DisplayFusionDid you know there are more than a dozen hidden settings that you can use to configure DisplayFusion that aren’t available in Settings window? There are 4 settings just to control the appearance of the taskbar thumbnail preview windows. You can adjust their size, delay, animation behaviour and toggle the tooltips. If you are using 4 or more monitors, you may want to change the order that DisplayFusion treats your monitors. With the advanced settings you can change this order. You can find out more about these hidden settings on the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings page. These settings are recommended only for people who are comfortable using regedit to edit their registry. If that is you, I encourage you to see how you can fully customize DisplayFusion.

DisplayFusionI am very happy to announce the release of DisplayFusion 3.1.6! This release has a hefty number of bug fixes, including some fixes for long-standing issues like high CPU usage when using the TitleBar Buttons. DisplayFusion now runs with less CPU usage, less memory usage and adds more features. One of the biggest new additions is the integrated help. Every window in DisplayFusion now has a “Help” button on it, and every option has some help text associated with it. You can view the online help here, or you can use the “Help” button inside DisplayFusion to take you to the specific section you need help with. Here is just a taste of some of the other new things in this version:

  • Added a new Advanced Setting called “Wallpaper Startup Change Delay” for manually adjusting the amount of the time DisplayFusion will wait after start-up before trying to change the wallpaper
  • Added a new Advanced Setting called “TitleBar Button Horizontal Offset” for manually controlling the location of the TitleBar Buttons
  • Each DisplayFusion window now has a “Help” button that links to the online documentation for that window
  • No longer using any global low-level mouse hooks, only application level hooks – this results in much less mouse stuttering
  • “Move to Next/Previous Monitor” HotKeys no longer put Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 into full screen mode
  • Taskbar compatibility improvements: Microsoft PowerPoint 2003/2007
  • TitleBar Button compatibility improvements: BPFTP, Windows Media Player, Adobe PhotoShop
  • Lower CPU usage when using the TitleBar Buttons
  • Full compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010 Beta 1
  • Text should no longer appear vertical in the Settings window in rare situations
  • Taskbar items now update instantly when being dragged between monitors, not just when the mouse button is released

Of course, these are just the highlights from this release. To see the full list of changes, please visit the DisplayFusion Change Log. I would encourage everyone using DisplayFusion to update today to take advantage of these exciting new features, and bug fixes!

G15 SpeedFan 1.1 Released!

G15 SpeedFanI am very happy to announce the release of G15 SpeedFan 1.1. G15 SpeedFan is a small application that integrates with the excellent SpeedFan application to display temperatures, voltages and fan speeds on your Logitech G15 keyboard screen. Version 1.1 of G15 SpeedFan adds compatibility for SpeedFan 4.39 along with Windows 7 x64. I have also eliminated the x64 specific builds, as the x86 builds work perfectly in Windows x64. Also, you no longer need to download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable to use G15 SpeedFan. There is now only 1 package to download, and it contains everything you need to get up and running. I would also like to send out a big Thank You to everyone who submitted feedback and helped to test this new release with Windows 7. Thanks everyone!
