ViewState Size + Markup Size != PageSize
« on: November 21, 2009, 07:32:30 pm »

First, thanks for the great tool and the great error messages with instructions on how to add path to the assemblies path. That is really a fantastic job!!!

I've noticed that ViewState Size + Markup Size != PageSize.

Usually the PageSize is bigger sometimes as much as twice the sum of ViewState plus Markup Size. What is the cause for the discrepancy? Mainly external js files? Do images count in total PageSize but not in Markup as well?

I believe that the markup size doesn't include things like embedded style and script, so this may account for the discrepancy. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does a poor job of exposing the pure HTML to external programs (like ViewState Helper) so most of the time the 2 values won't 100% match up. :)
