FuelMyBlog and TSheets are running an excellent promotion this week that gives you the chance to win an iPod. Basically, the creators of TSheets want to know what you do with the first 5 minutes of your day. Before I divulge that highly confidential information (lol), let me tell you why this caught my eye. Just last week my good friend Andrew “IdeaMachine” McTeer and I were discussing how we track our time, and how we could improve time tracking in general. He had some fantastic ideas (as usual) but after some heaving Googling he discovered his ideas were already in play, and looked quite polished. He always has so many ideas I don’t think we could ever hope to develop them all, even with both of us coding 24/7. So, what does that have to do with TSheets? TSheets gives you the ability to track your time, although it doesn’t look like it will rat you out for playing Solitaire or TrackMania for extended periods of time. It does let you track time against projects, and manage other people working for you. I haven’t had a chance to take TSheets for a detailed test drive, but the interface looks fairly slick, for a web app.
Now, down to the details - what do I do in the first 5 minutes of my work day? I usually start my day by mowing down all the emails in my inbox, seeing if there are any issues that need to be dealt with immediately. If there aren’t any big issues I usually head over to Slashdot and Arstechnica for 2 minutes to get my brain jump-started, and to see if the tech world has completely changed overnight.

Don’t forget about http://www.rescuetime.com I’ve been using it for a week and so far I’m impressed.
My first minutes of work always =’s emails and feeds. I’d rather know the first five minutes of everyones waking day - that would be more interesting.
