F1 - Let’s Roll

General

F1Well, it’s that awesome time of year again. Formula 1 starts again in just 14 short days. Only 2 weeks! I have never been this excited about the start of an F1 season. With Honda (hopefully) being competitive again, there will be a number of teams competing for both the driver and constructor titles.  I think the points races will come down to 3 teams this year.  McLaren and Ferrari for sure, and I think either Honda, Renault or BMW will frequently snag points to give the top 2 teams a good battle. I’m still a solid Kimi fan, but I have this hidden urge that wants the British boy to win. I was overly impressed with Lewis last year, and the fact that he almost won the championship in his first year nearly blew my mind. Lewis is both a gentleman and a fantastic driver, and for that he gets full respect. If Kimi can’t take the title again this year my only consolation would be if it was Lewis that snatched it away. Regardless of who wins, it’s going to be an intense fight right down to the last race. Australia in 14 days… I can’t wait!

I still think that Kimi winning last year was part of the Ferrai-McLaren agreement signed in Paris due to the espionage charges. However, we’ll probably never find out, unless some reporters catch Alonso drunk in a bar… somewhere.
I was (am) a Ferrari fan but I do enjoy most how Lewis works the wheel.

Delighted to find that, not only do you produce an incredibly useful piece of software, but are also an F1 fan. I am similarly excited about the start of the new season — though I’m dubious about the merit of a night race, which is clearly Bernie’s way of re-situating an Asian race in Western prime time.

In retrospect, I’m glad Kimi won last year, because McLaren’s unreliability definitely robbed him before. Can’t say I buy Ovidiu’s argument, however — that sort of conspiratorial outcome would have to involve far too many assistants, in a context of unpredictable race dynamics… But I’m with him on Lewis: his further development must be an object of intense interest to any F1 fan, I should think.

Last year was a terrible year as far as politics were concerned, I hope everyone can keep their hands clean this year. I am very skeptical about the night race as well. I think without the heat of sun the track will be too slippery and the quality of the racing will be relatively poor. Although, I’m sure the tire supplier will take this into consideration, it is just a promo stunt at best. Speaking as someone who lives in the western hemisphere I really don’t care what time the races are on at. I love watching races at crazy times, it adds to the excitement. And for the times I don’t feel like getting up super early in the morning I just record it on my Media Center.
