I’m very happy to report that DisplayFusion has passed a significant milestone this week: it has now been downloaded over 100,000 times! This far exceeds any expectations I had, as this averages more than 20,000 downloads per month since it’s release. Party time!
Now for some future news. Significant progress has been made on v2.0, which will be the next release. It has some spiffy new features and a pile of bug fixes. There are also some other big changes that I’ll announce once v2.0 gets released. I’d like to send out a big thanks to everyone that has donated over the last few months as I have been able to cover the hosting costs for DisplayFusion. This has allowed me to not worry about hosting costs or paying bills, and instead let me focus my attention elsewhere. v2.0 is nearing completion and should be ready for release in the next couple of weeks. I’ll keep you posted.

Hi,
I really appreciate Display Fusion and would like to say Thank you. It solved an annoying problem that I had.
If I can make a little suggestion. It would be nice to add the following feature :
I use two different second monitor (home and office) with my laptop. In the Size mode list, it would be useful to have an option “Best fit and maintain Aspect Ratio” that would choose automatically between “Fit Width and maintain Aspect Ratio” and “Fit Height and maintain Aspect Ratio”. In fact, I think that such option may even replace the two others.

The feature I would like to see (in fact, it is what I was looking for when I found DF) is to show identical screens on both monitors. Laptops do this automatically but most desktop systems will not do it at all! I have a system with a remote monitor that I would like to use without adding breakout hardware which tends to “ghost”.

It sounds like a feature that is built into most video card drivers now. I know that ATI drivers can do display cloning, and I’m pretty sure that the nVidia drivers can do it as well. This is something that is best handled at the video driver level and is unfortunately out of the scope of DisplayFusion.

People will hate it if you do it, but with payment in the thousands of clicks, adsense would really make your what you love to do profitable … not that the profit motive should be the driving factor, but its a good side income.

Hi, I’m trying to iniate the updates that are sent to me but when I go to download them I get an error that states Fusion is already running that must be turn off be for the update can happen.Where do I find the screen they are talking about and how do I turn it off? Thank you Al Greenslade

Alan greenslade: Look for the DisplayFusion icon in the system tray, right-click on it and select “Exit”. If this doesn’t work open Task Manager and look for a process called “DisplayFusion.exe” and end it.

I use a tablet notebook and regularily change the screen orientation between 1280×800 and 800×1280 e.g. rotating 90 degrees. Could DisplayFusion be used to automatically select a specified image (or set of images) when it detects a change in orientation/resolution?

Tim: I don’t think I would be able to add this functionality without some form of display profiles. I have this as something to play with in the future though, but not something for immediate inclusion.

I think DisplayFusion is great. It’s just what I wanted, so easy to use, and works perfectly. Well done.
I would love it if I could add visible items, which I could drag around to reposition on my desktops eg post it notes, to do lists and even pictures.
A ’safe mode’ function of the system tray, which restores the default images, would also be handy
But it is great as it is.

Richard: Your todo list suggestion sounds a lot like Yahoo Widgets, something that DisplayFusion isn’t able to do. For your reset idea, v2.0.2 will have a “restore defaults” button that will allow you to restore default settings when applying a custom wallpaper.

Hi, Great product! Was wondering if one could set it so certain programs (or even better pre-determined webpages) would open on predetermined screens. For example, if I open google, I would like it to open on monitor 1, if I open a different IE page, I would like it to open on monitor2, any other program, always on monitor3, etc…

Hi, great product. I have noticed that when set to automatically change the wallpaper on monitor 2, and to have just one wallpaper on monitor 1,that monitor 1 screen flickers when it changes. Is there anything i can do to stop this?

Thought as much, never mind still looks good, got a 32″ lcd tv as second monitor, set the wallpaper to change every minute, hows that for a digital photoframe.

I’ve been looking for this! Just downloaded the free one for now to see how
it works. I’m using 4 displays and 2 8800 GT. DF control panel shows them
correctly but not the displays? Trying to set each one different. I’m getting
3 of the 4 photos on 3 displays and all 4 on the last display…and they blend into the other displays instead of one on each display. Am I doing something wrong? Can anybody help? My NVIDIA control panel has this option
of setting each display different…come to find out that XP supported it,
but was droped by vista! So! I need this software!
Also wanted to answer a question for Vincent’s post on July 15th 2008. My Vista Ultimate 64-bit will do what your asking! So does my NVIDIA control
panel. I’ve got mine set up that way. You can set web sites, WMP, WMC and
anything else to open on a predetemined display. I don’t know if other version of vista do this…but Ultimate does.
However, I need some help to get DF to work right…can anybody help?

Great application! I just began testing Vista 64 for our company and was appalled to find that the NVIDIA drivers do not have NVIEW Desktop Manager in the 64 bit version. We all use dual monitors, so things were looking grim.
I have a couple of ideas, but they may be outside the scope of this app.
One: Can DisplayFusion be coded to allow the taskbar to span all the configured monitors? We commonly get a lot of open windows, and the space would be nice.
Two: Can you add Dream (active backgrounds) support for DisplayFusion? It is an MPEG2 video format that runs as a wallpaper, but the DreamScene and DeskScapes apps that use that format do not support wallpaper spanning across multiple monitors….just mirroring.

Great program. use it on all my computers. I noticed you have some hot keys that do various stuff. i don’t use any of them but there is one hot key that i would use. I’d like one that changes the background to the next image. instead of having to right click on the the icon and press “Goto Next Image”, i would just have to press the hot key.(btw. is Goto a typo?)

@Ryan: The hotkey is coming in the next version of DisplayFusion (v2.3), and yes - “goto” is a typo.
I’ve corrected it in v2.2 which was just released today.

Could you give an option to turn off the ‘Do you really want to set this as your wallpaper’ option?
