Debugging on a TurboGrafx-16

Silent DebuggersLast night I powered on my Wii for the first time in a few weeks and received a pleasant surprise in the form of a Christmas present from my friend Chris. He sent me a Wii Virtual Console game, and informed me that the title of the game was an inspired choice. As someone who lives in Visual Studio night and day I can see why a game about “debugging” was an excellent choice. However, Silent Debuggers doesn’t live up to it’s name, as there isn’t any actual debugging… actually, there isn’t even any code. :) This game came out in 1991 and was designed to run on a TurboGrafx-16, but oh man, these graphics are bad. When I first fired up the game and was told to pick 2 weapons I thought it was going to be a top-down shooter, but alas, it ended up being a pseudo-3D shoot-em-up, along the lines of the 3D scenes in the original Contra game. I played it for a short while before ending up completely and utterly lost in the never-ending series of similar looking corridors. However, it’s the thought that counts and for this I thank you, Chris. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for a Virtual Console game that says “Chris” to me… I wonder what it will be.

The tiger logo thing reminds me of Thundercats. ;) I watched a video of this game on YouTube and the Pseudo-3D sure is horrible. Next time maybe I’ll focus on quality. ;)
