Formula 1Does anyone else out there follow Formula 1? I’m an F1 nut, and I feel so alone in Canada sometimes. I’ve never bumped into anyone else who follows F1, so I watch all the races solo style. This isn’t usually a problem, until there is a season as intense as this year. I feel like I’m going to explode, it’s so exciting! The race in Fuji last week was possibly the best F1 race I have ever watched. Ever. It was intense, full of twists, and the atmosphere was crazy. With the Chinese Grand Prix over now (with even more twists) it looks like it’s going to come right down to the wire in Brazil in 2 weeks. There are 3 people can can take the title, all 3 with a decent chance.

For past years I have relied on SpeedTV to provide me with all my F1 coverage. I have never really given it much thought, and never had the chance to compare the SpeedTV coverage with anything else. Until this year. I have been watching the British ITV F1 coverage this year and what a difference. These guys make SpeedTV look like a 2 bit effort. ITV coverage is far more extensive, with more pre and post race commentary. Heck, these guys even have an entire website devoted to their F1 coverage. Try and find any coverage at all on the SpeedTV website. They will occasionally have a few articles, but because SpeedTV is owned by Fox it’s now a 24/7 Nascar network. ITV broadcasts all the races in the native widescreen format, while SpeedTV (for some reason) insists on cutting the sides of to make it 4:3. The ITV commentator’s and their analysis is also head and shoulders above SpeedTV. My only knock on ITV (from my Canadian point of view) is their intense focus on the 5 British drivers. While there isn’t anything wrong with that, especially with most of them doing so well this year, there are other drivers on the grid that deserve coverage as well. SpeedTV always provided well rounded coverage of all the drivers, probably because they didn’t have an American that was worth covering, but who knows.

So, it’s going to be a long 2 week wait until F1 heads to the Interlagos circuit in Brazil. I can’t take it!

We are really into F1 here in Germany. It got a little quiet after Micheal left but sich season is so thrilling that everyone is picking up on F1 again.

    So who´s your favorite driver/team=

    All the best,
    Elmar

I’ve been a McLaren fan ever since I can remember. However, I’ve also been a huge fan of Kimi Räikkönen since he joined F1. This presents a problem now that he races for Ferrari however. With Lewis Hamilton joining this year and being a gentleman off track and a force on track I can’t help but like the guy. If I had to pick someone to win the title this year I’d like Lewis to take the title, just to stick it to Alonso.
