Our family recently got back from the cottage in Port Burwell (to an overflowing inbox, I might add :)) We had a fantastic time, so I thought I’d share a few photos.
We kicked off the week with my birthday party, and a homemade pinata, made by my wonderful wife! The piñata was made into the shape of a car, and was as tough as Mr. T. That thing took some serious muscle to crack open - we even broke the broom we were hitting it with.
We went on a fantastic walk through the woods and down the beach. Hiking is one of the few things that everyone in our family enjoys, so we always make a point of getting out as much as we can.
On our last night we had a roaring campfire and toasted marshmallows and s’mores. For anyone that’s not familiar with s’mores, they’re basically 2 graham crackers with a healthy dose of chocolate and marshmallow inside, melted over a campfire. Very messy, but the kids loved them.
My parent’s brought some sparklers for the kids, and they had a blast!
Everyone had a fantastic time at the cottage, and I’m sure we’ll be getting together again next year. I’d recommend Port Burwell to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax, with the exception of the August civic holiday weekend. There was a huge 3 day bash on the beach called “tub-daze“. Loud, pumping music and the sound of generators dominated the night, but after they packed it up on Monday it was deserted and peaceful.
It’s good to kick back and relax once and a while. So, like the title says, cottages FTW!
