I have signed on with the TownRenowned project recently to help my good friend Andy with some coding. With this change, Andy will be transitioning into more of a project management role, with me picking up the coding.
I am very excited, to say the least, and I can’t wait to jump in and get my hands dirty. For those that aren’t familiar with the “TR” project, I think Andy summed it up best:
TownRenowned (TR) is designed to show the best and worst places to eat, things to do and places to party in a given city. Users can vote up or down anything they have experienced. These votes then get mashed together into the “renowned†score (up votes minus down votes) and this is how things get sorted. This is designed to expose the gems a city has to offer.
However it’s not just about the popular places, it’s about finding new things too. By using tagging, items get tied together in very interesting ways. Like the best place for a five dollar lunch, or bars with Foosball tables or free activities.
